Our 5 Favorite Albums of January 2023

Picked by our editorial staff, in no particular order.

From huge artists like Sam Smith to growing artists like Samia, January gifted us a variety of albums. But to keep it simple, our editorial staff picked our 5 favorites to indulge in. Check them out below.

Lil Yachty's "Let's Start Here"

Lil Yachty released his fifth studio album "Let's Start Here" on January 27th. Yachty made it clear that his goal on this project was to be taken seriously; but that's something his cult of loyal fans have always done. With tracks like "Poland" that trended on TikTok for their experimental ecstasy, Lil Yachty remains the King of the youth.

Ice Spice's "Like..?"

Dubbed the Princess of New York Rap, Ice Spice released her first EP "Like..?" on January 20th. Similar to her hit single "Munch", the project features tracks for what TikTok users are calling nonchalant baddies. The most impressive part about "Like..?" is Ice Spice's ability to prove to the world that she's not a one-hit-wonder; she will have the world's attention for a long time. She has now created her own sound, not just a moment.

Sam Smith's "Gloria"

"Gloria" is an album exuding freedom and confidence. Through spectacular songwriting and comforting vocals, Sam Smith has captured the world's attention again. Released on January 27th, "Gloria" is a must-listen.

Samia's "Honey"

If you haven't heard of Samia yet, you're in for a treat. The rapidly growing singer-songwriter released her second studio album "Honey" on January 27th. "Honey" is infused with themes of emotional intelligence and empathy.

SG Lewis' "AudioLust & HigherLove"

Fun, upbeat, and full of life, UK pop producer's electronic album "AudioLust & HigherLove" is literally full of audio lust. With credits for artists like Dua Lipa, Jessie Ware, and Elton John, SG Lewis is not new to producing moment-making hits. You can absolutely count on this album for a great time.

Check back next month for our February favorites.
