Doja Cat has captured her first chart champ on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart as her latest release, Planet Her, opens in the top slot of the list today. The set, released on June 25 through Kemosabe/RCA Records, begins with 109,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 1, according to MRC Data.
Planet Her marks Doja Cat’s third visit to the Top R&B Albums list, following the singer-rapper’s two immediate predecessors, Amala and Hot Pink. The former, released in 2018, reached a No. 20 peak on the chart in November 2019 as the release of Hot Pink that month fueled interest in Doja Cat’s catalog. Hot Pink, meanwhile, peaked at No. 2 on Top R&B Albums in May 2020 amid the height of popularity for the album’s single “Say So,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 that same month.
