James Ignacio, also known by the artist name jamesignac., is a 17-year-old Filipino-American producer based in the NJ/NY area.
Ignacio first found his appreciation for music through musical theatre, performing professionally for a number of years. Notable performances and venues include a 2015 Broadway Revival of production of The King and I at Lincoln Center, as well as performances at Madison Square Garden, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and 54 Below and the Green room 42. At age 12, Ignacio began teaching himself to play bass and guitar, picked up the bassoon at age 13, and finally piano at 14 years old. He first started producing music roughly two years ago following his participation in a music industry course at NYU's Clive Davis school. After learning to produce in a number of genres, Ignacio found that making Lo-Fi music came naturally to him.
Inspired by asian Lo-Fi producers such as Jinsang, Chris Punsalan, and gny, as well as artists like Zmeyev and L. Dre, Ignacio is taking the music industry by storm to be another strong asian figure in the community.
Ignacio's latest single, entitled "feels like home," was released on November 5. The track is a feel-good blend of soothing horn sounds, unique effects, and a deep rhythm section pocket. "feels like home" perfectly compliments Ignacio's discography, and can be enjoyed both in the context of his other works or as a stand-alone listen. The song's steady groove builds on itself, with a dynamic piano interlude section that adds new depth to the release.
