Texas-based rock band Remain released their new single, "The Heart Beats On," on August 2, ahead of their full-length album Millennial Nation (set for a September 1 release date).
The upbeat elements of "The Heart Beats On" express the journey of seeking direction. The single exudes positive energy through its uplifting, original melodies. The electrifying guitar riffs, profound lyrical content, and danceable drum beat of "The Heart Beats On" blend together perfectly to create a heartening and catchy hit.
In a statement to Intersect Magazine, Remain shared: "Trying to recall the writing of a song and what inspired it is a bit like trying to reinvent the truth. Lyrically, I think the song is about perseverance. I don't think we'll ever reach a place in life where everything is totally good and perfect, and I think the song acknowledges that. However, it also acknowledges a commitment to life regardless of how good or bad it is, and regardless of what may or may not happen. I think all songwriters use their songs (intentionally or unintentionally) as running journals of their experiences based on where they are at in life and based on what is going on in the environment around them. The Heart Beats On was written at a time when Remain was undergoing a lineup change and facing an uncertain future, and it would've been easy for us to quit. This song has a lot to do with struggle, and whether I want to admit it or not, in the last few years struggle has been a fact of life on a personal level for me, and a national level for our nation."
