Nipsey Hussle's 'The Marathon' will be turned into an interactive visual album in 2021

On December 21st, 2020 — the ten year anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon — the Nipsey Hussle team made an announcement on the late rapper’s Instagram. Coming in 2021, there will be "an interactive live visual album experience" of the album.

The team is partnering with Oki Doki, a company focused on creating multi-dimensional experiences for virtually anything. Oki Doki has worked with retail companies such as Camp to build an immersive campgrounds-like experience in the store. They also partnered with P Diddy for his 50th birthday. Seeing as Oki Doki has created an in-person experience for a select group of people, from shoppers to Diddy’s closest friends, we are curious to see what's in store for Hussle’s album. Will it be a series of videos, or will it be more akin to Frank Ocean’s Endless, a visual album? An “interactive live visual album experience” is pretty vague, but with the name Oki Doki attached, we’re sure it will do Hussle justice.

The post explains that “the experience will give viewers an intimate look at the era that helped shape this masterpiece.” A backstage view of Hussle, in the process of creating such an iconic album, will prove priceless to not only those who were inspired by the artist, but also those just entering the rap scene. Acting like a history lesson of one of the most influential rappers of the decade, this project will set the tone for the upcoming era of rap music. Perhaps we can expect similar ventures from other large artists. Check out Nipsey Hussle's post below:
