In Review: PinkPantheress' "Boy's a liar Pt.2"

UK native PinkPantheress joins forces with New York icon Ice Spice for a remix of Pinkpanthress’ song, “Boys a liar”, calling this remix, “Boys a liar, Pt.2”. PinkPantheress is known for her experimentation with drum and bass while Ice Spice is known for her New York drill-inspired raps. This combination proved to be an interesting collaboration.

This track is built off of layers of glitchy synths, that are used for both melodic and percussive elements. These synths are complemented by repetitive piano chords, overall creating an engaging track. PinkPantheress' voice floats flawlessly over the synths, and the inclusion of Ice Spice’s even, steady rap style perfectly completes the song. This earns them an 8/10 for sound on the Intersect Rating Scale.

The two discuss feeling inadequate in a romantic relationship. PinkPantheress sings, “You only want to hold me when I'm looking good enough”, suggesting that her lover objectifies her and does not value her for her character. Ice Spice adds to this, rapping, “But I don’t sleep enough without you, and I can’t eat enough without you”. Even though she recognizes that her lover does not treat her with respect, she still yearns for them regardless. These lyrics gain the group a 7/10 on the Intersect Rating Scale.

The pair filmed a candid music video for this remix, where Ice Spice took PinkPantheress to New York City. The two are styled impeccably for the shoot and are pictured having fun around the city, on the subway, and fire escapes. The video was shot beautifully, playing around with angles and bright colors. Fans loved this iconic duo, sharing their excitement all over social media. Pink and Spice get a 9/10 on the Intersect Rating scale for their art.

Overall, the remix gets an 8/10 on the Intersect Rating Scale.
