Max Ehrich Releases Breakup Song "Afraid" About Ex Demi Lovato

On Friday, the 29-year-old Young and Restless actor Max Ehrich dropped his new song "Afraid." The release comes just weeks after his breakup with singer Demi Lovato.

The couple's break-up announcement came shortly after their engagement, shocking everybody — and it got messy. Ehrich and Lovato got engaged in Malibu this July, following an extensive quarantine together. During mid-September, however, their relationship started to go downhill as past tweets resurfaced of Ehrich thirsting over other celebrities such as Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande. In a tweet from 2010, Ehrich even insults his own fiancée when compared to singer and actor Selena Gomez.

Lovato immediately released a statement on her Instagram claiming the tweets were fake. On September 24, sources confirmed their breakup, saying the couple wanted to go their separate ways to focus on their own careers. It was noted that they both "still love and cherish each other."

The music video for Ehrich's new song features him belting out lyrics while playing the piano, exclaiming he is afraid to love again. He's been promoting his new song this past week and said in an Instagram post, "It’s scary to fall in love. but it’s a risk worth taking. For in the end; all we truly need is love."

The music video's comment section was turned off after negative remarks insisted Ehrich had used his recent breakup to bring attention to the song. "Afraid" is said to be one of the six songs off the EP Ehrich is planning to release next year.

Ehrich told Billboard in October that he recorded the song as he was falling in love with, people can assume, ex Demi Lovato. He said that the song is a reflection of the emotions he was feeling during that time. The lyrics speak for themselves:

I'm afraid to love you, love you

Afraid to give it my all

I'm afraid to love you, love you

Love you with my whole heart

Demi Lovato hasn't been quiet about the breakup either and released a new song Still Have Me on September 30. The night before her release, Lovato said on Twitter: "Music is always there for me..."
