Following the release of his 2020 debut single, "History," electronic dance artist French Original released his single "Only For A Night" on June 25.
"Only For A Night" is a bittersweet story of love and mixed signals with a danceable beat and emotive vocal performance. On the single, French Original showcases his extensive skills as a producer, songwriter, and performer, giving listeners a single they'll want to listen to on repeat.
"I wrote and produced this song after one of my very close friends was telling me about a difficult situation he was in - He was falling in love with someone that was very hard to read, too much playing around and never really opened up to him emotionally - That's why in the chorus I wanted to highlight the fact it was 'only for a night' or a day and then nothing. It's almost like that person gave him a little taste of what it could be like but then left him even more hungry," French Original shared in a statement to Intersect Magazine.
He continued: "I wanted to share his story as he really felt lonely at the time and thought it could help anyone else who's going through a tough time. That being said, I didn't want to make a sad track, I wanted to create that contrast between the lyrics and the music which is why you can easily dance to it as it's leaning towards dance/pop. I started with the chorus in my head, recorded it on my phone, and then played around with some piano chords. I always treat production as decorating a Christmas tree - you get the tree which is the core of the song with melody, lyrics and then the decoration which includes everything else like drums, FX, synth, pad,etc - it kinda works right?"

The artwork for "Only For A Night" reflects the many genres, emotions, and elements of the single, further displaying French Original's versatility and ingenuity as an artist and producer.
"The rest of the year is looking good and exciting - the artwork for 'Only For A Night' says a lot to be honest - You know how people always try to put you in a box and categorize you? Well, this box in the artwork is special as it's a multi-flavor one! I believe that this will allow me to put out music that isn't exactly the same every release. I like many genres of music but they all come from the same roots really so I want that to reflect in my upcoming releases. There's a lot of material coming throughout the year and I want to put as much as possible out so next year people can come to my show singing and dancing along to more than one song."
