Still Blank release their self-titled debut album today via National Anthem/Capitol Records, arriving alongside their new single “Dead and Gone.” Blending shoegaze haze, psych-folk warmth, and post-punk edge, the duo’s debut captures the cinematic, instinct-driven world they’ve been building since first meeting in Liverpool’s music scene.
“Dead and Gone,” written at producer Joel Pott’s family cabin in Wales, channels the quiet spell of that setting, analog synths, early sunsets, whiskey by the fire, with demo vocals preserved for their raw emotional imprint.
Formed by Hawaii-born singer/multi-instrumentalist Jordy and Manchester guitarist Ben, Still Blank craft songs that sit between fragile and fierce, pulling from introspection, nature, and the unfiltered moments in between. Their debut album, written across London, Los Angeles, and Wales with collaborators like Joel Pott and Flood, traces a transformative period marked by creative breakthroughs, distance, and even Jordy’s unexpected deportation.
Across ten tracks, from the dreamy pull of “What About Jane” to the motorik pulse of “Ain’t Quite Right” and the winding melancholy of “Cut Slack," the record embraces uncertainty, experimentation, and the beauty of not over-explaining yourself.
Now supporting Royel Otis on their European tour (with three nights at Brixton Academy) and gearing up for their first London headline show at The Social on December 4, Still Blank are quickly becoming one of alternative music’s most intriguing new forces. Their live shows, shifting from hushed, intimate moments to cathartic release, underline exactly why the duo’s world is resonating so quickly: they’re building a universe where ambiguity isn’t a flaw, but the point.
