In Review: AUDREY NUNA's "IdgaF"

Audrey Nuna continues to mark her territory as a first-generation Korean-American trailblazer in hip-hop with her newest single, “IdgaF.”

SOUND

This trap beat comes in intense and hard-hitting after the first few seconds of this song previews quieter distorted vocals. Although the beat ends up being a bit repetitive, it is scattered with unexpected electronic, robotic noises throughout, giving it more nuance. AUDREY NUNA’s vocals are relaxed yet have a strong sense of confidence and security to them, letting listeners know she is serious about every word she has to say. The track ends with a panned vocal chop, adding to the experimental aspects of the instrumental. The sound on this track earns her a 7/10 on the Intersect Rating Scale.

LYRICS

AUDREY NUNA is unapologetic here, belittling anyone who is unnecessarily bothering her. She says, “I don't give a fuck bout no lease on yo lambo,” targeting people who boast about riches but don't genuinely live up to that lifestyle. She has incredible wordplay in her verse, saying, “New Hokas on my feet it’s Eskimo, it's so cold.” Her stand-out lines are witty and clever, creating the perfect formula for a perfect rap line. Her lyrical ability earns her another 7/10 on the Intersect Rating Scale.
