What's New in Fashion: From Acne Studios to Gucci

Our favorite new moments in fashion, hand-picked by our editors.

Kenzo FW23

In a campaign titled “EAST MEETS WEST,” KENZO explores the differences between creative director NIGO’s home country and the classic designs that make KENZO what it is today. Between Kyoto and Osaka, the Fall/Winter 2023 collection mixes together “the interaction between the streets of Japan, America, and England” while the aesthetic hints at young 60s flare with contemporary Japanese-inspired designs, silhouettes, and pops of color and patterns. NIGO makes a cameo in the campaign in a blue and black striped shirt, and VERNON from the K-pop band SEVENTEEN also appears as their brand ambassador. Check out the Fall/Winter collection on the KENZO website.

Acne Studios FW23 Denim

Kylie Jenner stars with none other than a clone of herself in the new Acne Studios Fall/Winter 2023 denim campaign, complete with wet hair and grungy body makeup. According to the label's creative director, Jonny Johansson, Acne Studios prides itself on fabulous denim, “an endlessly important material” that is up for reinvention every season. Distress is the main point of design in this season’s denim collection, behind simplicity, showing an effortless, worn-in, put-together campaign with Jenner down to nothing but denim. Jenner can be seen wearing the unisex ‘2023’ jacket and the ‘2021’ mid-rise, wide-leg jeans. Accessories such as eyewear and a leather distressed Multi-Pocket bag are just a few essentials of the campaign. Check out the Fall/Winter 2023 collection on the Acne Studios website.

Gucci FW23

Ahead of Sabato De Sarno’s creative director debut in September, the in-house design team for Gucci revealed its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, and the newly released campaign reminisces on the label’s era when Tom Ford was at the helm. Set at Gucci’s Milan headquarters, the campaign focuses on the classic designs and aesthetics from the 1994 to 2004 time period, such as the Gucci signature green shade, and retro 90s menswear, such as wide-leg trousers and oversized blazers. A fur-covered dress with a plunging neckline, oversized jeans, a sunny yellow fuzzy collared top, and a rhinestone micro-bikini top are just a few notable moments of the campaign, while the Gucci Horsebit Chain bag has been revived from the Tom Ford era in an array of bright colors and off-the-wall textures. Check out the Fall/Winter 2023 collection on the Gucci website.

Levi’s x ERL

Coveted denim brand Levi’s has teamed up with Eli Russel Linnetz’s brand ERL for a not-so-basic retro California-inspired collection centered heavily around denim. ERL’s surf and skate cultures are the usual aesthetics you see within its designs, and with Levi’s, the aesthetics translate through denim essentials for any California culture lover. The classic Levi’s 501 jeans get a bit more added details, such as slit cuts on the side of the legs and frayed edges here and there. Oversized board shorts play up the skater-Venice Beach vibes, and a denim mini-skirt is made from 5-pocket jeans. Neon ERL logos can be found throughout all the pieces, and a variety of sherpa-trimmed jackets and standard denim jackets are classics of Levi’s. Check out the collection on the Levi’s website.
