What's New in Fashion: From Moncler to Telfar

Our favorite new moments in fashion, hand-picked by our editors.

Viktor and Rolf x Superga

Viktor and Rolf’s eccentric approach to couture never goes unnoticed, from their surreal sculpture-like dresses to their bodysuits constructed with various 3-D phrases like “I wish you well” and “Dream on,” Viktor and Rolf’s signatures are strong in everything they make. In collaboration with Italian footwear brand Superga, their signatures are the subject of a capsule collection reminiscing over the 30 years of Viktor and Rolf’s couture just in time for the fashion house’s anniversary. As Viktor and Rolf is most famously known for their voluptuous and elegant flowers and bows within their couture designs, their collaboration with Superga takes both the flower and the bow. It applies them to three pairs of chic platform sneakers, two low-top, and one high-top pair. The low tops, made entirely of satin, come in a creamy white or baby pink, both adorned with a matching satin bow on the toe box. In all-black satin, the high-top pair is covered in black hand-sewn satin and organza flowers and feature a hint of sparkle with a Swarovski crystal. Check out the collection on Viktor and Rolf’s website.

Moncler x Salehe Bembury

Designer and functional outerwear is nothing new to Moncler, and functionality is nothing new to NYC-based designer Salehe Bembury, a footwear designer who has worked with the likes of Yeezy, Versace, and Cole Haan. Now, Bembury and Moncler have teamed up to release a collection of outerwear and footwear meant for the explorer as a part of Moncler’s Genius line. Pulling inspiration from Moncler’s 1950s ēquipements line, the collection has a retro tone to the down-filled puffer jackets, collarless padded shirts and pants, hoodies, t-shirts, and various accessories from beanies and scarves to sunglasses and socks. Moncler ēquipements lettering continues the vintage vibe, and a heavy emphasis on swirled textures and patterns can be found throughout the pieces. Moncler’s Trailgrip sneaker is reimagined through Bembury’s eyes with earthy tones and fingerprint-inspired stitching encapsulated into a functional hiking shoe with spiked soles for grip. Check out the collection on Moncler’s website.

Telfar x Melissa

Nobody can forget the clear, colorful jelly sandals that took over every kid’s closet in the early 2000s. The sandals, known as “jellies,” remain an icon of the Y2K era when we think of summertime footwear, perfect for any warm weather occasion. This summer, the iconic tote bag from the American label Telfar has undergone “jellification” thanks to the Brazilian footwear brand Melissa, in a collaboration that has released a jelly Telfar tote bag with a matching pair of Telfar jelly slides. The tote bag comes in a range of sizes, small, medium, and large, made from the crystal clear jelly substance Melflex and is perfect for concertgoers looking to whiz past security. The unisex slide sandal features three across-the-toe straps that form Telfar’s logo and a small heel for a bit of height. Check out the collection on Telfar’s website.
