Beatles member and rock 'n roll icon Paul McCartney released solo album McCartney III in December. The superstar will release album McCartney III Imagined, a reconceptualization of the songs on his most recent release, on April 16.
"The Kiss Of Venus" was rereleased as reimagined by Dominic Fike on March 11, ahead of McCartney III Imagined.
The reimagined "The Kiss Of Venus" transforms the original track from a vulnerable acoustic ballad into an upbeat, groovy R&B pop tune. The accompanying music video tells a story of Fike as a big city businessman. Throughout the video, the musician-turned-businessman explores the fine line between fact and fiction in the local news. At the end of the music video, McCartney himself appears in a park, reading the daily paper.
In a Reddit Q&A, McCartney revealed that he listens to a wide variety of different music, discreetly mentioning artists who will appear on McCartney III Imagined: “I’m lucky, I have a friend who sends me new music which helps me keep in touch with the modern scene,” he said, "I listen to people like Dominic Fike, Beck, St. Vincent and Khruangbin. I also listen to a lot of classic oldies coming through, from rock ‘n’ roll to ’60s to soul to R&B, with a sprinkling of classical music now and then.”
McCartney III Imagined will feature covers by numerous other artists, all of which have a distinct and wildly original sound. The LP will feature Phoebe Bridgers, Anderson .Paak, and Gorillaz's Damon Albarn, among other artists.
