Toasty Digital, a 26-year-old technical editor who moonlights as an internet DJ and Yeezy superfan, has just released his mashup album Good Kid Twisted Fantasy. The work blends together two iconic albums — Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city and Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — to create 11 mashup tracks utilizing every song on each of the OG albums.
It's a dream collaboration between two big names in music, and gives us the nostalgia of old Kanye while keeping the vibes of good kid, m.A.A.d city. Toasty has set his album up with equally serene visuals, with a backstory for the work set in 2050. Opening credits explain Earth is on the edge of collapse, and Kanye has been missing for 30 years as people begin to escape to space to lead new lives. The album serves as the soundtrack to a space-bound Kendrick Lamar’s cryogenic sleep.
It's a wild concept, but makes sense given Good Kid Twisted Fantasy's futuristic feel. The album is packed with electronic beats, space references, and voiceovers.
