Days after teasing that she had music on the way, Lorde released the new single "Solar Power" on Thursday, June 10. It's the first track we've heard from the artist in four years, and it arrives alongside a summery music video.
The strummy, shimmery song features background vocals from Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo and is co-written and co-produced by Lorde and her frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff. In an email, Lorde shared "Solar Power" was the title track to her third studio album, to be released later this year.
"The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors," she wrote. "In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through."
