Grammy-Nominated Artist SOPHIE Dies at 34

Influential producer and pop artist SOPHIE has died from an accidental fall, her label Transgressive confirmed. Early on January 30, the artist fell in attempt to get closer to the full moon while in Athens, Greece.

As artists and fans flood to social media to express their condolences, we want to highlight SOPHIE's efforts in the music industry and continue to introduce this fantastic artist to the entire world. Most recently, she released her single, UNISIL, a two minute and seven second experimental track. It paints pictures of a futuristic alien spaceship, while also amping up into a fun, energetic, dance track.

SOPHIE's discography also includes a 9-track debut album titled "OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES" and a 25-track remix album. Besides creating her own music, SOPHIE also collaborated with many artists, truly leaving her mark on the music world. Her production credits are vast, with SOPHIE working with artists like Madonna, Charli XCX, and Fletcher and Flume.

Outside of the studio, SOPHIE was a trans activist, coming out as trans in 2018 with the help of her debut album, which prominently features her vocals and further introduces the artist's identity. This peek into SOPHIE's mind took the album to new levels, and was even nominated for the Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2019 Grammy's. SOPHIE is and will forever be a trailblazer in the music industry.

The avant-garde producer was in the process of paving the way for new artists, new visions, and new music. Though her journey on Earth might be over, there is a whole network of artists with SOPHIE's fire still inside. No one will be as inspirational nor as inventive. We hope you take some time to dive into SOPHIE's discography and go on a new adventure with each track.
